    Hi All,

This question is wrong! on the exam file, it's says C but its A

Your network contains an Active Directory domain named contoso.com. The domain
contains a file server named Server1 that runs Windows Server 2012 R2.
You create a user account named User1 in the domain.
You need to ensure that User1 can use Windows Server Backup to back up Server1. The
solution must minimize the number of administrative rights assigned to User1.

    What should you do?

A.Add User1 to the Backup Operators group.

B.Add User1 to the Power Users group.

C.Assign User1 the Backup files and directories user right and the Restore files and
    directories user right.

D.Assign User1 the Backup files and directories user right.

"You must be a member of the Administrators group or Backup Operators group to use Windows Server Backup."

I would say D. "You need to ensure that User1 can use Windows Server Backup to back up Server1. " Nothing said about restoring files :).

But in order to access Windows Server Backup -- user has to be in Administrators group or Backup Operators group, no?

Question says "ensure the User1 can USE Windows Server Backup" -- just applying backup files and restore files policies won't allow the user to USE windows server backup.

    D.

    Explanation:
The question explicitly says we need to minimize administrative rights. Since the requirement is for backing up the data only & no requirement to restore or shutdown then assigning the “Back up files and directories user right” would be the correct.

It can't be. Having only “Back up files and directories user rightâ€￾ doesn't permit to do any backup. With only these permission you aren't able to either run Windows Backup or execute wbadmin.

So if using “Back up files and directories user rightâ€￾ gives you minimize the rights, but then you can't use any Windows Backup tools I don't think it can be right.

    The answer must be A.

I agree with it being D.

Backup operators come with the following permissions, most of which are too much for the specific question: "Back up files and directories; Allow log on locally; Restore files and directories; Shut down the system."

Only "Back up files and directories" is needed to make backups.

The question explicity asks "You need to ensure that User1 can use Windows Server Backup to back up Server1", if you aren't member of Administrators or Backup Operator, you're not able to use it.

    The answer must be A.

If someone can explain me how to make Windows Server backup running (which is the prerequisite of the question) without Administrators or Backup Operator membership I will appreciate very much.

I tried it, look at the error down here.

I understand the point of opening windows server backup but least permission available is file and directories and that is what microsoft is looking for and I confirmed with them.
